So, I've just had a slight rearrange of the site to leave some basic info on the home page and leave the blog for when we get underway (mainly). As I said, I'm a novice at this so am making adjustments and experimenting as I go along - as I find out new things about Weebly's capabilities!! Hopefully you'll bear with me. I've also just downloaded the mobile app for my Nexus 4 - and as I'm off to Scandinavia in less than a week, I may try the mobile app out while there. The trip is mainly visiting friends in Finland, Sweden and Norway for 3 weeks or so, and we usually do a bit of walking with our friends. However, I have found at least one short hike in northern Finland that we should be able to fit in (as we are borrowing a car and driving from Helsinki, and ending up in Stockholm) - hiking up the Saana Fell (1029m) near Kilpisjarvi in northwestern Finland (includes 2km of solid wooden steps!!). Given limited time, it might be the best opportunity. It's not far from Halti Fell on the Norwegian border which, at 1324m, is the highest point in Finland - but not sure we'll have time for that one as well. I'll take my Suunto Ambit3 Peak with me to record any walks we do - again its a bit of practical experience before the big walk. If anyone is interested I try and sync my hikes to Movescount, which is the Suunto app for managing data collected - see example of a walk we do regularly in a local reserve.

AuthorBelinda and Anthony (aka Tony) Hadfield made a decision, in their late 50's, to do something a "bit different" and walk New Zealand's 3000km Te Araroa Trail over summer 2015/16 - although updates will now tell you that this plan will take longer now!!. As the old saying goes - "don't leave home 'til you've seen the country"!! Archives
